To finish our trip to see the fall colors, we headed out of Ward and went up into Brainard Lake for a quick look. The road up to the lake was beautiful with bright yellow aspens on either side of the road backlit and glowing with the sun shining down. Up at the lake, there weren’t any aspens, but there was a lot of scrub-oak that was all sorts of colors. The sun kept peaking in an out of the clouds as well, so it would get dark, and then the light would shine down and the colors would explode! All of that was backed by these beautiful mountains and the lake. It’s very pretty up there. I can’t believe I’ve never been there before. We will definitely be going back another time!
