Colorado Smoking Ban Passes the House!
The Colorado statewide smoking ban is one step closer to going into effect! The House gave final approval to a statewide smoking ban Friday and sent the bill to Gov. Bill Owens, who is expected to sign it. I'm very excited to see this pass here in Colorado. Living in Boulder while going to college we enjoyed the smoke free environment there and now we will be able to continue enjoying a healthy environment through out this state. I'd like to say thank you to all those who made this happen!

How is it possible for you to cheer on the trampling of personal freedom and liberty?
Let's have a look at the arguments people like you keep making.
"Non-Smokers shouldn't have to be around smoke."
Of course they shouldn't. And they never have. There have always been TONS of non-smoking establishments for people like you to enjoy, as well as those for smokers to enjoy. THAT is a win-win situation. In this case, an entire segment of society has been displaced, and this WILL spell the end of neighborhood bars and many restaurants.
"Employees have the right to work in a smoke free environment."
Couldn't agree more. But they've never had to. I don't know why you people can't understand that, but when you take a job, it's called "At Will Employment." That means you can quit whenever you want to. So employees, like patrons, are there BY CHOICE. Besides, some employees who smoke might be glad to have a back room where they can light up.
"We need a statewide ban to eliminate the repercussions of local bans."
That seems to be what you're talking about, right? People are so angry, and want so bad to patronize establishments where smoking is allowed that they've crossed town borders to do so. In other words, citizens ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE BANS!!!!!! So now we need a statewide ban to run smokers out of ALL Colorado establishments? How does that make sense? And guess what! People won't go to bars anymore. They'll just stay home with a 6-pack where they can smoke all they want. This will ruin the economy.
Besides, even if non-smokers fill all the seats of former smoking patrons, that's not the real issue. If we were passing a law that banned black people from entering a bar, the fact that racists would fill the empty spots causing no loss in revenue would be no consolation to me!
And remember. Next time, you would do well to actually think--you know, use that matter between your ears--before you cheer on the trampling of freedom and liberty.

yes all this is against all I believe in Doesn,t matter if I am a smoker or not. It's all politics.
For federal grants. well I am a smoker and have talked to non-smokers and smokers. they all say same thing.......why can't the business decide,(the private/small) as example the bars and restaurant. they make the decision for non-smoking or smoking. people can either go there or not..........like you said THEIR CHOICE.
Men have gotten together to talk, smoke, drink, socailize /rather business or pleasure in bars, restaurant, clubs for as long as anyone would care to remember. I work in a bar, and alot of oldtimers would come in in mornings just to have a coffee/beer/cigar/cigarette and visit with others.after all they couldn't go to a lot of restaurants/barber shop, etc. Anymore, but they didn't complain. They are taking away a LONG standing tradition.Non-smokers know ahead of time when they go in a bar, there will be smoking. don't like it DON"T go there. colorado needs designed NON-Smoking bars.I agree with the public places...hospitals/courts/malls/etc. they should be non-smoking.....anywhere the Family might be.
WHY DID NOT WE GET TO VOTE ON THIS ?? I think the state would be surprised, according to the people I have conversed with....which was a large number
This really hurts the city economy/small bars.takes away CHOICE.who wants to stand outside in winter in Colorado....SNOW/RAIN/wind. Not all can have a Patio or walk outside and be on private property.
THIS IS SO WRONG..........Thank you
