Great Stuff on Flickr

Since finding Flickr, I have been having quite a fun time trying to find pictures I really like. It is still some what hard to find the really good ones out there, but you can take a look at some of the cool ones I have found so far on my favorites page. But I have been finding other cool things on there as well. Such as In Numerical Order where all the pictures of of a particlar number and they are in order on the page. Or, a prang mantis walking around titled Mantis Fu! So far, my favorite example of how cool Flickr is are these two pictures. Make sure you scroll down a bit on the second one to find out the story behind the two. The world is getting even smaller now that we have the internet. :) If you find something fun and exciting on flickr, let me know!

Please feel free to check out my pictures as well and let me know what you think!

sunkencity.org redisigned and relaunched!

Some of you may know that I also have another domain name sunkencity.org. Well, for a long time, sunkencity.org was a playground for my own personal stuff. I have always envisoned having a software company under the sunkencity name though. So, without further adieu, sunkencity.org has been redesigned and relaunched in the form of sunkencity software! Obivously this was all prompted by the release of Flickr Backup, but what better time than now to have a new web site!

Unlike this website which is run on moveabletype, I thought I would try another CMS called textpattern. I actually think I like textpattern a bit more than moveabletype. The management interface is a bit cleaner, installing plugins is done via a web browser which is really cool, and it is completely free even using it for a commercial use.

So go check out the new site. You can read what I blogged about it on there as well. Let me know what you think!

Flickr Backup on SourceForge!

Ok, so I haven't been blogging on here much lately and there was a reason! As I said in my last post, I've been using Flickr a lot lately. I found out that Flickr exposes many of their services though an easy to use API. I also found that there were a TON of uploader applications for Flickr, but no real downloaders. Finally! An application I can write! So, I've started an open source application called Flickr Backup. It is hosted on SourceForge which is a great Open Source Community. I also just released the first version of it to the public! So please go check it out and let me know what you think!

Next thing I have to do it make a new web site for my software company. So if I'm not blogging for a while, that is probably why...:) If you want to help, please let me know! I've been getting some really good feedback from people so far that I'm trying to work into the plan, so keep it coming!

Flickr.com

I was recently (about a month ago) made aware of an awesome web site where you can host your photos called flickr. Flickr has a rich web interface using Flash and is very well done. They allow you to upload 20MB of picture per month with a free account, but there is no limit on how many you can upload or keep there (i.e. you have unlimited storage forever). With their pro account, you can upload 2GB a month! You can also restrict any photos to just your friends / family. There is also a great idea of Groups. So go check it out! You can even check out my photos.
