The Future of Digital Camera Technology
I wrote this post back in November with the intention of researching it more, but I guess I never had the time. So at long last, here is what I did write!
Ever since I got my first camera, I have always wanted an SLR based camera. Then digital cameras came out and then I wanted one of those. Now that I have a digital camera, I take hundreds of pictures. I am again to the point where I want a digital SLR now. So I have been poking around the internet looking for what the latest and greatest is right now. A while ago I came across a new image sensor called the Foveon X3. It looks like it could revolutionize digital cameras, read on to find out why.
Before this image sensor, to get fully lossless 3 color digital pictures, you needed a 3 CCD solution. With the Foveon X3, it captures all 3 colors on different layers of the CCD. Therefore, it is much smaller, with very high quality images being produced. You actually get more pixles with one X3 sensor than you would on a 3CCD camera. It looks awesome and I want one. That is all there is to it...;)
