MP3 Blitz for the holidays
Just in time for the holidays, all the MP3 hardware manufactures are releasing new MP3 and Portable Media Players. Over at MP3 News Wire, there is a set of articles giving us a summary of what is being offered this Christmas season. There are 4 parts to the article, so check them all out! Read on to see my comments.
Throughout the articles there were a few that jumped out at me. I just wanted to point out the ones that caught my eye.
From part one:
The Olympus m:robe 500. I didn't know that olympus was getting into this market at all. But it looks like they have comeup with quite a decent contender. It has a 3.7" screen and a 1.22 megapixel digital camera built in. It has a touch screen for the user interface. It plays music and does slideshows of your pictures too. I can't tell if it plays video or not, but it seems a bit silly if it doesn't...
From part two:
The Epson P-2000 PhotoViewer. Again, I didn't know that Epson was getting into the digital music player market either. But they have also created a good contender that plays music, movies, etc. The article also says it plays AAC files as well (the same mp4 files on your iPod). They haven't released the size and weight of the unit yet though, so only time will tell how portable it will be.
From part three:
The Digital Square i-Station PMP1000. This is another Portabal Media Player that has a touch screen for the user interface. It plays MPEG4, DivX, XviD and playes JEPGs too for slideshows. It is hard to tell much more about this one though.
Also the Toshiba Gigbeat is also instesting in that it looks a LOT like the iPod. It even uses the same harddrives and all. So it could present Apple with some competition there.
There wasn't much that stood out at me from page 4, so I guess that is all for this round up. Can't wait to see what's next!
