For all you who think Starwars Galaxies Sucks...

A lot of people rag on MMOs and think they are a waste of time. And since Starwars Galaxies(SWG) came out, a lot of people have said it sucks. I was in the SWG beta and it was pretty fun for a while, but I don't have time to play MMOs, so I left that to some of my other friends. One of them just pointed me to a awesome video that was made from all in game footage and you HAVE to check it out. It is hilarious and very well done. The movie comes from the guys at Windspire Entertianment and they have dome other cool videos of more SWG fun here and here.

So now tell me if you still think SWG sucks. ;)

Disclaimer: I haven't watched all those videos, so I don't know what they are all like, but I liked what I saw, therefore I shared. :)

Since we were talking about the Segway...

Funny that I mentioned the Megway yesterday as an alternitive to the Segway, and then today a new reason to buy a Segway pops up! A group of yuppies in the Bay Area have started playing Segway Polo! Seems that technology is is revolutionizing all sorts of sports. Check out the video here.

Some Humor for the Day

I was just surfing around at lunch and found some funny websites so I thought I would share them.

  • Looking for a new extreme sport? Maybe you should try WheelBarrow Freestyle

  • Need a new comic that gives your kids something to do? Check out HowToons

  • Who needs a Segway when you can have a Megway!

  • And since I've never posted it here, we all love Badgers
That's all for today. Maybe you'll get some more later if you're lucky!

Feel free to add more in the comments!

Sudeki - The RPG that is taking up all my time right now

sudeki1thumb.jpgI got a new RPG to hold me over until either: a new Final Fantasy comes out, Gran Turismo 4 comes out, or Fabel comes out. So I got Sudeki for my birthday (yeah, yeah...i know it isn't my bday yet...)! I've been playing it for about a week now, so I thought I would share some of my thoughts. So click on the link below to read my review so far!

Let me know what you think of the game if you have played it as well!

Sudeki has been one of those "most antipicated games" of this year for the XBox. There haven't really been any good RPG out for the XBox yet except for KOTOR, so Sudeki was the next big one in the line up. Before I got the game, IGN did their review of the game and basically said the combat was great, but that is about it to the game. So far, I disagree.

To start, the graphics in the game are really quite nice. Not much better than the rest of the games out there, but so far, nice environments, visually pleasing towns, and great character models. The character are pretty cool, and boy the girls of Sudeki sure did get a lot of pixle padding on the front of them...;) One thing with this game (that is pretty much the same in all RPGs at this point) is that you can only go on the paths. I haven't seen any real "world" area like in Final Fantasy that you can just roam around in yet. But so far, I haven't really even thought about that until right now.

The game play is very nice. The camera movement is very well thought out and works well with the movement of the character.

On to the combat: This is where Sudeki shines.
I just recently got all 4 characters in my party at the same time. So now I've had a chance to play with all of them a bit. The combat is really cool in this game. The only game that I can compare it to is The Mark of Kri (Which if you have never played, PLAY IT!!). Each character has different attacks. Both the melee characters (Tal and Buki) have a set of combos that you learn to aid you in your botton slapping adventures. You start to learn which combos can get you out of those tight situations. The coolest thing about the combat though is that when you go into the menu (to select things like spells, items, etc), the combat goes into slow motion. You can then move the camera around while it is in slo-mo and check out your sweet attack as you kick a monsters butt. It is really a cool idea. It keeps the combat in "real time" while you are still in the menu and you don't really get killed while in the menu either. IGN has many movies of the combat if you want to check it out.

As for the story line that IGN bashed, I don't think it is all that bad so far. There is an actual plot, there is some relationship building going on (I bet Tal and Ailish get together!!), and of course, we must Save The World!! It would be a very good RPG if we didn't save the world would it?? The story isn't as great as a Final Fantasy story, but it is a lot better than other games I've played.

So for now, I like the game. The story keeps me wanting to play more and the combat is always fun. Can't wait to get more spells and new weapons.

Let me know what you think of the game if you have played it as well!

Lets build a weblog! We'll make it our best friend!

Welcome to my brand new WebLog. My name is Andrew Serff and I'm a Colorado native. I've been thinking of starting up a blog of some sort for a while, so now I'm finally getting around to it. I wanted a place where I can post random comments, cool links/web pages I find, intresting news I hear, etc...etc...So feel free to comment, check back often, and enjoy!!

Please read the extended text to see some comments I've added about the weblog.

I wanted to explain a few things about this website for those of you who know nothing about it. Mainly, this is a blog (which is somewhat like a journal) for my thoughts and other things I want to spread the word about.

Currently, I have it so only registered users can comment on the posts that I make. To register, you need to go to a website called TypeKey and get an identity set up on there. By setting up an account there, you do not need a login unique to just this site. It would work at any other blog around the world too (in theroy). If enough people complain, I may just make it so that anyone can post comments, not just registered users. So let me know if you feel strongly one way or another.

Another interesting thing about weblogs/blogs is that most of them implement an RSS feed. This means that you can basically subscribe to the RSS feed and when new news/articles are posted, you will get notified. You don't have to check back everyday. There are many advantages to using RSS feeds as they are a huge time saver. They can pull all your favorite news sites into one local place for you to look at and you don't even have to check the webpages...it all happens for you.

There is a great RSS viewer here.

I think that is all I wanted to explain for now. If you have other question/comments, feel free to ask.
